Carrie Fitzsimmons

Carrie Fitzsimmons received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Randolph-Macon Woman's College with a double major in art and economics. These areas of study led her to develop a wide range of talents in the arts, business, and nonprofit fields. Fitzsimmons' diverse professional background paved the way to her current position as the International Director of Strategy for ArtScience Labs and the Founding Director of The Boston 100k ArtScience Innovation Prize.

Before joining ArtScience Labs, Fitzsimmons was Chief of Staff at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. At the ICA, Fitzsimmons managed the Director's Office and Trustee and Board relations, as well as the Visitor Services, Human Resources, and Information Technology Departments. Prior to joining the ICA, Fitzsimmons worked at the Cambridge Arts Council, a municipal cultural council in Massachusetts; New Profit, Inc, a national venture philanthropy fund designed to provide the necessary resources for social entrepreneurs to achieve their visions; and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, which is an encyclopedic museum in Richmond, Virginia. In July 2008, Fitzsimmons was chosen as one of 30 museum leaders from around the world to participate in the Getty's Museum Leadership Institute. Fitzsimmons is also a Fellow for the RSA and Connector for Boston World Partnerships, a new, non-profit organization, created by Mayor Thomas M. Menino, to raise global awareness of Boston as one of the world's foremost centers of intellectual capital and innovation.
